Tours and Social Activities

Montevideo is vibrant modern city with a wide range of activities to choose from! Formally, we are organizing 4 events, the welcome reception, closing banquet and two tours.

The Welcome reception will be held at the Kolping Institute, this will provide you with an informal opportunity to mingle with other participants, renew old acquaintances and make new ones. You will also have the opportunity to register at that time. Thursday, November 10 from 5 to 9 pm. An assortment of Hor d’oeuvres, tea, coffee and juice will be available.

We have not planned anything formal for dinner Friday, November 11, as the city is truly vibrant and such a varied choice of events that we wanted to leave you free time to enjoy and savour the city at your leisure.

The closing banquet will be held at the Kolping Institute on Saturday evening, November 12. f you plan to attend the banquet we will request in a separate email that you chose from the menu attached; however if you have specific dietary restrictions those will be accommodated.

Pre-conference Tour
If you plan to arrive in Montevideo for the full or half day on November 10 we have planned a walking tour of the old city. There is no charge for this event but please indicate on your registration form if you plan to attend, there is a minimum number of 10 needed for each choice.

Post-conference Tour
We are offering a full day tour on Sunday, November 13. It will be springtime in Uruguay and we will be visiting a Food Forest. It promises to be engaging and experiential day as we learn about various aspects of the forest, its ecological functions, its importance in ecosystems, its advantages for food production, aspects of design and management, and most importantly to know a food forest from the inside. There are two itineraries to choose from, with a maximum number of 25 for each. If one or both are not filled then the tour will also be open for non-conference participants to attend.
